2020 was a tumultuous year for the world. As the Covid-19 pandemic spread across the globe, the need to protect and promote children’s rights, female empowerment and entrepreneurship and support communities to achieve self-resilience in the face of systemic poverty became more pressing than ever. We rose to these challenges and together with the 200+ communities we partner with around the world, we helped transform lives for the better.
On the education front, Good Neighbours supported over 1 million children in 2020 to get access to education opportunities and trained 6,917 teachers and educators to strengthen the quality of public education. This ultimately enabled children, through improved school infrastructure, trainings and education provision, to enjoy their right to education.
From a health perspective, more than 1,371, 730 people benefited from improved access to health services including access to clean drinking water and sanitary facilities. Good Neighbours works to ensure that people have access to basic health services and that people are informed about sexual reproductive health.
Good Neighbours also supports children to assert their rights, and helps parents and their neighbours to protect their children from violence, abuse, discrimination and other threats. This is why in 2020, we helped almost 200,000 people to increase their child rights awareness through trainings, community workshops and practical support.
Thanks to your continuous support, Good Neighbours was also able to celebrate its 30th anniversary and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to you all, reminding ourselves of our mission, and getting closer to our neighbours in need.
