Mission & Values

Good Neighbours UK is a York-based charity working with communities across Africa and Asia to build safer, fairer, and more sustainable futures. We focus on what people tell us they need most - better access to education, clean water, healthcare, and livelihoods, while standing up for the rights of women and children, and helping communities adapt to climate change.

Our Values

Our work is grounded in the values that guide the global Good Neighbours movement:

  • We go where the need is, regardless of race, religion, or geography.
  • We promote self-reliance, helping individuals, families, and communities create lasting change.
  • We prioritise children's rights, protecting their wellbeing and supporting their development.
  • We mobilise volunteers and support local leadership to drive community action.
  • We work in partnership, collaborating with local organisations, local government, research institutes, voluntary groups and NGOs who share our goals.
  • We’re accountable and transparent, keeping donors and communities informed about our projects, impact, and finances.

Where We Work

An independent UK-registered charity, we benefit from being part of the global Good Neighbors alliance, an international humanitarian network founded in South Korea over 30 years ago. Together we reached over 9.8m people in over 200 communities in 50 countries worldwide in 2024.
