This month marks six years since Good Neighbours UK began its mission to support communities affected by poverty, illness, and crisis. Since 2019, we’ve worked side-by-side with local partners in low- and middle-income countries to design and deliver 16 projects that respond directly to community priorities, from WASH, education and health to livelihoods and resilience.
We are deeply grateful to every supporter, donor, and partner who has made this possible. Your trust and collaboration continue to help us build lasting change, together.

Over the past six years, our work has taken many forms, but was always led by local voices. In Nepal, our inclusive education projects are helping children with disabilities access school and take part in community life. In Ghana, research conducted with the University of Manchester and Good Neighbours Ghana identified the social and economic factors driving teenage pregnancy, laying the groundwork for more culturally appropriate interventions.

In Vietnam, the Our Children Are Not Brides project reached over a thousand children with life-skills and gender-education training, creating safe spaces to discuss self-esteem, relationships, and future aspirations while challenging child marriage. In Niger, collaboration with Good Neighbours Niger and local health departments has contributed to lower maternal and infant morbidity in project areas, alongside stronger community awareness of safe childbirth practices and malaria prevention strategies.
In Ukraine and neighbouring Romania, our humanitarian partners have delivered food, essential supplies, and psychosocial support to thousands of displaced families since the outbreak of war – including nearly 4,000 Ukrainian children receiving mental-health support. And in Kyrgyzstan, our network continues to strengthen education, healthcare, and livelihoods in remote rural areas, helping communities build resilience to harsh winters and economic shocks.

Yet even as we celebrate progress, we recognise that the context for global development is becoming increasingly challenging. According to the OECD, official development assistance (ODA) is projected to fall by 9–17 % in 2025, following significant cuts last year. These reductions come at a time when overlapping crises are increasing pressure on the world’s most vulnerable communities.
At the same time, social divisions are deepening across many societies. Good Neighbours UK works beyond religious, gender, political, and ethnic differences to promote understanding, inclusion, and mutual respect. Our work is grounded in the belief that every individual deserves dignity and equal opportunity, regardless of background or identity. That is why your support matters now more than ever. As large donors and governments pull back, local and independent organisations like ours remain vital. We continue to take a grounded, human approach – building relationships, listening carefully, and ensuring that projects reflect the real priorities of the people we serve.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’ve shown that development led by communities, not imposed upon them, delivers the most lasting results. With your partnership, we’ll keep standing with those who face the greatest barriers, and help them shape their own futures.
