Good Neighbours UK (GNUK)
is a York-based charity working internationally to support communities affected by poverty, illness and crises. We work with communities, local partners and funders to co-design, resource and implement development and humanitarian projects in low and middle-income countries. Our model prioritises trust, localisation, and community-led action supported by global learning to deliver sustainable impact. We focus on what people tell us they need most - better access to education, clean water, healthcare, and livelihoods, while standing up for the rights of women and children, and helping communities adapt to climate change.
An independent UK-registered charity, we benefit from being part of the global Good Neighbors alliance, an international humanitarian network founded in South Korea over 30 years ago. Together we reached over 9.8m people in over 200 communities in 50 countries worldwide in 2024.

How we work
Every project we run begins with a single child. We ask "how can we support them throughout their childhood, so they have the best chance at having a good life?"
So we look at their surroundings, at their home life, their school, their health and the land their family depends on. Then we work with their community to create an environment that supports a good and healthy childhood .
A child's future is only as secure as their family's income. We help parents build steady livelihoods through skills, savings groups and fair work, so choices about a child's health and schooling aren't forced by next week's money.
Too many children — especially those with disabilities — are quietly left at the school gate. We train teachers, adapt classrooms and provide assistive devices so every child has a place to learn.
When a child can reach clean water and a working clinic, illness stops stealing their childhood. We help communities build the wells, sanitation and safe routes that keep children well.
The communities we work alongside feel the climate crisis first and hardest. We help families protect their land, harvests and homes against floods, drought and shifting seasons.
