The Philippines is strategically located in the Pacific and known for its paradise-like tropical sceneries but is also prone to natural disasters. Every year the country is frequented by disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, floods among others things.

The Government of the Philippines priorities programmes and services for the strengthening of community resiliency, particularly their response to natural disasters. To further strengthen local development efforts, Good Neighbours International Philippines often partners with the local government for its various developmental programs.

A community-wide earthquake drill was held in Southville, Rizal province in cooperation with the local government on September 13, 2019. Around 500 community members actively participated with this activity. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (BDRRMO) facilitated the community-wide drills for the 3 cluster areas in Southville.

The community-wide drills are targeted to be accomplished regularly with the local government and there are plans in place to install a public address system.
